Love excites me... !

New Year's Resolutions

Ok, so these are a few days late but I feel it's important to write these down:

1. Fall more deeply and madly, head-over-heels in love with Jesus.
2. Invest myself in the Word and in prayer - in other words be more devoted in my alone time with God.
3. Live out life in the Spirit - to nonbelievers as well as believers.
4. Invest in the relationships God places in my life.
5. Get into the best physical shape of my life.
6. Make the time to read.

This list is probably incomplete and will probably be edited. With that said, though, I'm not even sure if these are "resolutions" in the truest sense, or just goals. I think that it is implied in a resolution that whatever you are resolving, you find the strength within yourself to accomplish the resolved issue. However, I know beyond a doubt that I can't do 1-3 on my own resolve. Lord, I need You.

In fact, let's just settle to call these New Year's desires. Not that they are new, but that these desires are what my heart and mind yearns for for the next 350 some odd days left in 2008 now.

on the road

The past two days have been spent driving to and from Clemson - more than 500 miles in less than 24 hrs. To say the least, the driving part was not fun. However, it offered me a chance to think about some things. Usually, whenever I transfer from Charleston to Clemson, or vice versa, it takes me some time to adjust, and get my bearings straight. Actually, it takes a lot more time for me to adjust when I go from Charleston to Clemson. When I come to Charleston, it usually takes no time to adjust, I feel home. Going back and forth these past days has made me realize that I feel like two completely different people between Charleston and Clemson - there is a Clemson Eric, and there is a Charleston Eric.

This realization has been recent, although I feel it has been brewing inside for quite some time. I don't really know the whole scope of it, I only know that the feeling has depth. I hope to explore and investigate the causes and the results of this duality.
